Ingredients

For the cookie dough
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour For the perfect chewy base.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda To help those edges rise beautifully.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt A pinch enhances the sweet flavors.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Creates a rich and tender cookie.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar Adds depth and moisture.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar For that perfect sweetness balance.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract The essence that brings all flavors together.
  • 2 large eggs To bind the ingredients and provide structure.
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips The star of the show, melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and eggs to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients from the first bowl, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to over-mix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet and spread it out into a giant disc, about 1 inch thick.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the center remains slightly soft.
  2. Allow it to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Feel free to swap some of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option. Consider adding crushed pretzels for a salty twist, or sprinkle sea salt on top before baking for added flavor contrast.
