Ingredients

For the Crust
  • 1 package sugar cookie dough or homemade cookie dough if you prefer!
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder optional for extra fluffiness
For the Frosting
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Toppings
  • 1 cup blueberries for the stars
  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced for the red stripes
  • 1 cup banana slices or kiwi slices for the white stripes—sub with apples or pineapple for variety

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a round pizza pan or a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the cookie dough: If using store-bought dough, slice it and shape it into a ball, then flatten it on the prepared pan. If you’re using homemade dough, roll it out to about 1/4 inch thick.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until lightly golden. Let the crust cool completely.
Frosting and Assembly
  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until smooth and creamy.
  2. Once the crust has cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly across the top, covering it entirely.
  3. Create the flag by placing rows of sliced strawberries for the red stripes, leaving space for the blueberries, and adding banana or kiwi for the white stripes.
  4. Finish by placing the blueberries in the top left corner to represent the stars.
  5. Cut into wedges and serve immediately, or chill until ready to serve.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Best served cold and assembled close to serving time.
