- Halve and pit the avocados. Scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
- Add the lime juice and a sprinkle of salt. Mash to the preferred texture.
- Fold in the minced shallot or red onion, jalapeño, and diced tomato.
- Add chopped cilantro and a pinch of cumin if using. Mix gently.
- Taste and adjust seasonings. Transfer to a serving bowl.
- Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface if not serving immediately.
Notes
Guacamole is best fresh but can be stored in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed onto the surface for up to 2 days. To store longer, cover with a layer of lime juice.
