Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits or homemade, if preferred
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage can substitute turkey sausage for a healthier option
  • 2 cups milk using room temperature milk helps mix better
  • 4 large eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar works beautifully
  • chopped green onions optional for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Open the can of biscuits and cut each biscuit into quarters. Layer the biscuit pieces evenly in the bottom of the greased baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the cooked sausage over the biscuits, followed by the shredded cheese.
  6. Pour the milk and egg mixture over the entire casserole, ensuring all biscuits are soaked.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the casserole is puffed and golden brown.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with green onions if desired.

Notes

This casserole can be customized by swapping sausage for cooked bacon or adding veggies like bell peppers. Great to serve with scrambled eggs or hash browns.
