  • 1 cup shredded cheese Optional; cheddar is a great choice.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, crumble the sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, whisk together the flour and milk. Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Open the can of biscuits and cut them into quarters. Arrange them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. Pour the cooked sausage over the biscuits, followed by the white gravy. If using, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  6. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the dish is bubbly.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving and enjoy the aroma that fills your kitchen!

Notes

You can prepare this casserole a day in advance and refrigerate. For a healthier option, use whole wheat or gluten-free biscuits. Add toppings like green onions or red pepper flakes for additional flavor.
