Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, crumble the sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- In the same skillet, whisk together the flour and milk. Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Open the can of biscuits and cut them into quarters. Arrange them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Pour the cooked sausage over the biscuits, followed by the white gravy. If using, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the dish is bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving and enjoy the aroma that fills your kitchen!
Notes
You can prepare this casserole a day in advance and refrigerate. For a healthier option, use whole wheat or gluten-free biscuits. Add toppings like green onions or red pepper flakes for additional flavor.
