  • 2 cups Cheese (cheddar) Cheddar is a crowd favorite
  • 1 cup Sausage or bacon Your choice
  • 1 cup Bell peppers Diced, for added sweetness
  • 1 cup Onions Diced, for added crunch

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large casserole dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and milk while adding salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Layer the bread cubes at the bottom of the prepared dish.
  4. Sprinkle your choice of protein over the bread cubes, followed by cheeses and veggies.
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole, ensuring every nook and cranny is soaked.
  6. Allow it to rest for about 15 minutes; this helps flavors meld.
Baking
  1. Bake for approximately 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the eggs are set.
  2. Check that the casserole is done by inserting a knife into the center; if it comes out clean, you’re ready to serve!

Notes

Storage: Leftover casseroles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze in airtight containers for up to three months. Reheat in the oven or microwave. Consider adding fresh herbs before serving to enhance flavors.
