Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it stand for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add in the melted butter and salt, then gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 15 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into equal pieces — about 10 to 12 rolls. Shape each piece into a ball.
- Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between them.
- In a small pan, melt the remaining butter and add the minced garlic. Let it bubble for a minute.
- Brush the garlic butter generously over each roll and sprinkle the shredded cheese atop.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and gooey.
Notes
For variations, try adding herbs to the garlic butter or using different types of cheese. Store leftovers in an airtight container up to two days at room temperature or a week in the fridge. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
