Ingredients

For the cones
  • 1 package puff pastry, thawed For a healthier option, swap with whole wheat pastry.
  • 1 large egg This adds that beautiful golden sheen; can also use milk.
  • Fillings of choice (savory or sweet) Examples include spinach and cream cheese, or chocolate and marshmallows.
Optional Decorations
  • orange food coloring To make your cones extra cheerful.
  • green sprinkles or edible glitter For that finishing festive touch.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Optionally, mix in a few drops of orange food coloring.
  3. Cut the puff pastry into long triangles (about 4 inches wide at the base).
  4. Roll the pastry from the base of each triangle towards the tip to form a cone and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Whisk the egg and brush it over the pastry for a golden glaze. Alternatively, you can use a splash of milk.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffy.
  2. Once out of the oven, let the cones cool slightly before filling them with your chosen treats.
  3. Add green sprinkles or edible glitter on top for extra flair.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. To reheat, place in a warm oven at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes.
