Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour For that perfect texture.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda This helps the cookies rise just right.
  • 1 teaspoon salt A touch of salt balances the sweetness perfectly.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Adds richness and a delightful buttery flavor.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Sweetness you can't resist!
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar Gives depth and a slight caramel touch.
  • 2 large eggs To bind everything together.
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract For that warm, fragrant undertone.
Mix-ins
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips The star of the show!
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) A crunchy texture addition, if you like.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda. Set this dry mixture aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes). The butter should look pale.
  4. Add in the eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract. Mix well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, beating just until combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts if using) until evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Scoop out tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Give them space to spread.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers look slightly soft.
  3. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Enjoy
  1. Enjoy warm or store in an airtight container.

Notes

For variations, consider using whole wheat flour, adding seasonal spices, or replacing nuts with dried fruit or dark chocolate.
