Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt A little extra to enhance the sweetness
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened For a nutty flavor, use browned butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Mix-ins
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Feel free to mix dark and milk chocolate for depth

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and light, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then pour in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually incorporate the flour mixture into the butter-sugar mix, blending just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough on ungreased baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers are soft.
  3. Let cookies rest on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze in a single layer and transfer to a freezer-safe bag. Reheat gently at 300°F (150°C) for a few minutes.
