Ingredients

For the Cookie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened This is the heart of your cookie dough. Let it sit at room temperature for a creamy texture.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Add sweetness and help achieve that delightful chewy texture.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed Brown sugar adds a rich, caramel-like flavor.
  • 2 large eggs Bind all ingredients together and create a lovely texture.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract A splash of vanilla brings warmth and depth.
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour The base of your cookies; consider using whole wheat flour for a nutty twist.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda This will help the cookies rise nicely.
  • ½ teaspoon salt Always essential to balance sweetness.
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips The star of the show! Feel free to mix in dark chocolate for a richer flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add in the eggs, one at a time, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually fold this dry mixture into your wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. The center should look slightly underbaked; they’ll continue to cook as they cool.
  3. Remove from the oven and let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

To keep your cookies delicious for longer, store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or freeze the cookie dough for up to 2 months.
