Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, blend the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugars until creamy and light, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually fold the flour mixture into the buttery blend until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the centers appear soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For storage, keep cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. Freeze the dough in individual balls for longer storage.
