Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (or kosher salt)
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened This is where the magic begins.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar, preferably light
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract A must for that rich flavor!
Add-Ins
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Feel free to swap for dark chocolate for a richer taste.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Walnuts or pecans add a delightful crunch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, blend the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugars until creamy and light, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually fold the flour mixture into the buttery blend until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the centers appear soft.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For storage, keep cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. Freeze the dough in individual balls for longer storage.
