Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Let it sit out for 30 minutes.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar For sweetness!
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar For a lovely caramel richness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Add a splash extra for enhanced flavor.
  • 2 large eggs The binding magic.
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Can replace half with whole wheat for a healthier option.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda To give those cookies a gentle rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt To balance the sweetness.
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Feel free to mix in dark chocolate for a richer flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. One at a time, mix in the eggs, ensuring each one is well incorporated.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or your hands, portion out the dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about two inches between each scoop.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden but the centers appear soft.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks.

Notes

For a twist, try adding a cup of chopped nuts or using different chocolate varieties. Store in an airtight container or freeze for longer storage.
