Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin puree Choose pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling, for better flavor control.
  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) chocolate cake mix Any brand will do, but a rich chocolate mix pairs best with pumpkin.
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Feel free to use dark chocolate chips or white chocolate for a unique spin.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree and the chocolate cake mix. Stir until fully blended; the batter will be thick and slightly lumpy.
  3. Fold in the chocolate chips gently, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth out the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Once baked, let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with a pat of butter or cream cheese spread. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
