Ingredients
  

For the Peach Filling
  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced Substitute with frozen peaches if fresh aren't available
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Plus additional for sprinkling
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Batter
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • Ground cinnamon Optional, for added warmth

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Toss the sliced peaches with 1 cup of sugar and vanilla extract. Let them sit for about 10 minutes.
Making the Batter
  1. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and milk until smooth.
  2. Pour melted butter into an 8x8-inch baking dish, tilting to cover the bottom evenly.
  3. Pour in the batter without stirring.
Layering and Baking
  1. Spoon the peach mixture over the batter without mixing.
  2. Sprinkle ground cinnamon over the top, if desired.
  3. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

If you find yourself with leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. To reheat, place in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes.
