Main Ingredients
  • 1 piece bone-in ribeye steak, ideally 1.5 inches thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For searing
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt Enhances the meat's natural flavors
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper Freshly cracked adds a layer of spice
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed For aromatic goodness
  • 2 sprigs fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme) Feel free to experiment with what you have

Method

Preparation
  1. Bring the steak to room temperature by removing it from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Rub both sides of the steak with olive oil, then sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper for an even coating.
  3. Preheat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until it's screaming hot.
Cooking
  1. Carefully place the steak in the pan, letting it cook without moving it for about 4-5 minutes to form a delicious crust.
  2. Flip the steak using tongs, and add crushed garlic and fresh herbs to the pan; cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.
  3. Tilt the pan and use a spoon to baste the steak with the melted butter and juices from the pan for added richness.
  4. Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for at least 5 minutes to redistribute the juices.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different marinades and toppings for variations. Serve with hearty sides like roasted potatoes or salad. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
