  • ¾ cup Granulated Sugar Adds sweetness and helps thicken the filling.

  • ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg Elevates the apple flavor.

For the Topping
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Necessary for a crumbly topping.
  • ½ cup Quick Oats Adds texture to the topping.
  • ½ cup Butter, softened Provides richness and binds the topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
Topping
  1. In another bowl, combine the remaining flour, brown sugar, oats, and softened butter. Mix until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.
Baking
  1. Grease a 9-inch square baking dish and layer the apple mixture evenly across the bottom.
  2. Sprinkle the oat topping generously over the apples.
  3. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are soft.
  4. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, preferably with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
