Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef Can swap for turkey or chicken.
  • 12 ounces pasta (penne or fusilli)
  • 1 cup heavy cream Half-and-half can be used for a lighter sauce.
  • 1 cup beef broth Homemade or store-bought.
  • 1 medium onion, diced Use caramelized onions for sweetness.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced More if you prefer a garlicky flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Choose a blend with basil and oregano.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving A welcome addition!

Method

Cooking
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking into crumbles as it cooks.
  3. Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, then add the heavy cream and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat in the creamy sauce. Cook for an additional minute or two until everything is heated through.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve warm.

Notes

For variations, consider adding vegetables like spinach or bell peppers. A splash of white wine or red pepper flakes can add depth and heat. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave.
