Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cucumbers Cucumbers Choose firm, thin-skinned varieties for best flavor and texture.
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese This forms the delicious base; you could substitute with dairy-free cream cheese if needed.
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Dill Adds a fragrant herbal note; can be replaced with chives.
  • 8 slices Whole Wheat Bread A heartier choice; can use white or gluten-free bread as alternatives.
  • 2 tbsp Butter Optional, enhances richness; a light spread can be used.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese with chopped fresh dill until well combined. Optionally, add a dash of lemon juice.
  2. Using a serrated knife, cut your bread into thin slices, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. If desired, lightly butter one side of each slice for extra richness.
  4. Generously spread the cream cheese mixture over each slice of bread.
  5. Thinly slice the cucumbers using a mandoline or sharp knife for uniform pieces.
  6. Lay cucumber slices over half of the bread slices. Top with the remaining slices, cream cheese side down.
  7. Use a sharp knife to trim the crusts off for a classic look.
  8. Slice the sandwiches into quarters or triangles as desired.

Notes

To store, keep sandwiches in an airtight container in the fridge. Best consumed within a day; add cucumbers just before serving to maintain crispness.
