Preparation
- In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese with chopped fresh dill until well combined. Optionally, add a dash of lemon juice.
- Using a serrated knife, cut your bread into thin slices, about 1/4 inch thick.
- If desired, lightly butter one side of each slice for extra richness.
- Generously spread the cream cheese mixture over each slice of bread.
- Thinly slice the cucumbers using a mandoline or sharp knife for uniform pieces.
- Lay cucumber slices over half of the bread slices. Top with the remaining slices, cream cheese side down.
- Use a sharp knife to trim the crusts off for a classic look.
- Slice the sandwiches into quarters or triangles as desired.
Notes
To store, keep sandwiches in an airtight container in the fridge. Best consumed within a day; add cucumbers just before serving to maintain crispness.
