Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature Feel free to swap with coconut oil for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Light brown gives a milder flavor, while dark brown is more intense.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Or dark chocolate for an extra-rich flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter and sugar mixture until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Using a cookie scoop or two tablespoons, drop mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft and gooey.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For variations, consider adding nuts, mint chocolate chips, spices, or using whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor. Enjoy with milk or coffee.
