Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter and sugar mixture until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
- Using a cookie scoop or two tablespoons, drop mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft and gooey.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For variations, consider adding nuts, mint chocolate chips, spices, or using whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor. Enjoy with milk or coffee.
