Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking right from the start.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix well to ensure even distribution of dry ingredients.
- Slowly stir in the milk and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and creamy.
- Melt the butter in a large baking dish (or you can use a 9x13 inch cake pan) and let it slightly cool.
- Carefully pour the batter over the melted butter. Do not stir; the butter will float to the top during the baking process.
- Pour the drained peaches evenly over the batter. Again, don’t mix; the magic happens as it bakes!
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and fully cooked.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat at 350°F (175°C).
