Ingredients
  

Salad Ingredients
  • 4 medium medium cucumbers, thinly sliced Use firm cucumbers without blemishes.
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced Consider using red onion for color.
Dressing
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar Apple cider vinegar can be used for a sweeter note.
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Adjust for sweetness as desired.
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dill Use fresh if possible.
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the cucumbers under cold water and slice them thinly, about 1/8-inch thick.
  2. Slice the onion into thin slices.
  3. In a bowl, combine vinegar, water, sugar, salt, and dill; whisk until the sugar dissolves.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, add sliced cucumbers and onions, then pour the dressing over them and gently toss to coat.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  6. Before serving, give the salad a final toss and adjust seasoning with black pepper or more salt if needed.

Notes

This salad is best served chilled and can last in the fridge for 2-3 days. Adjust the ingredients according to personal taste and experimentation.
