Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the vanilla extract, followed by the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using) until evenly distributed. Let the dough sit for about 10 minutes.
Baking
- Using a large cookie scoop or two tablespoons, drop mounds of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, allowing room for spreading.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges are lightly golden, and the centers appear soft and puffy.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
Feel free to switch up ingredients or add extras. For thicker cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
