Ingredients

Pasta Ingredients
  • 8 oz pasta (rotini or favorite shape)
Main Ingredients
  • 12 oz kielbasa, sliced Use a smoked variety for deep flavor.
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped Consider using Vidalia onions for sweetness.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Homemade or store-bought.
  • 1/4 cup honey Use local honey for added depth.
  • 1 cup bell peppers, diced Red or yellow adds color.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For sautéing.
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, boil salted water and cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook until browned and slightly crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Toss in the chopped onion, garlic, and bell peppers. Sauté until the onions become translucent and the veggies soften, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce and honey. Pour this mixture into the skillet over the kielbasa and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and gently toss until the pasta is well-coated in the savory-sweet sauce. Allow it to heat through for another minute.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or cilantro.

Notes

Consider healthy swaps like using whole grain pasta. Add a spicy kick with red pepper flakes if desired. Leftovers store well for up to 3 days in the refrigerator or 2 months in the freezer.
