Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  3. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a greased baking dish.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 45 minutes. During the last 15 minutes, sprinkle the shredded cheese on top for a gooey, delicious finish.
  2. While the meatloaf is baking, prepare your mashed potatoes. Boil potatoes until tender and mash with milk and butter until creamy.
