Ingredients

For the red layer
  • 1 box red gelatin (strawberry or cherry flavor)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup vodka can be substituted with flavored sparkling water for a non-alcoholic version
  • 1/2 cup cold water
For the white layer
  • 1 box unflavored gelatin (such as Knox)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup vodka can be substituted with fruit juices
  • 1/2 cup cold water
For the blue layer
  • 1 box blueberry gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup vodka can be substituted with flavored sparkling water for a non-alcoholic version
  • 1/2 cup cold water
For the topping
  • 1 cup whipped cream for topping and extra flair

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve the red gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir gently until completely dissolved. Add 1/2 cup vodka and 1/2 cup cold water. Mix well.
  2. Pour the mixture into layered shot glasses until they are about 1/3 full. Place in the refrigerator to set for about 30 minutes, or until firm to the touch.
  3. In another bowl, dissolve the unflavored gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until dissolved, then let it cool for about 10 minutes. Once cooled, gently mix in 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka.
  4. Carefully pour the unflavored gelatin mixture over the red layer in each shot glass, filling them up another 1/3 of the way. Return them to the fridge and let them set for another 30 minutes.
  5. For the final layer, repeat the process for the blueberry gelatin, mixing with boiling water, adding vodka and cold water, and stirring until smooth.
  6. Pour the blue mixture on top of the already set white layer in each glass. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours until completely firm.
  7. When ready to serve, add a dollop of whipped cream on top and garnish with fresh blueberries if desired.

Notes

These Jello Shots are best enjoyed fresh but can last up to a week in the fridge if stored covered. Avoid freezing as the texture may change.
