  • 1 medium onion, finely sliced (sweet onion preferred)
  • 1 cup white vinegar Feel free to substitute with other vinegars.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh herbs like dill or parsley for garnish (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the sliced cucumbers and onions.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the white vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Pour the vinegar mixture over the cucumbers and onions, tossing gently to combine.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least two hours to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Before serving, toss the salad again and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Consider adding diced tomatoes or jalapeƱos for a variation. This salad is best enjoyed chilled and can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
