For assembling canapés
  • 4 ounces smoked salmon Opt for high-quality, thinly sliced varieties.
  • 1 package crackers or cocktail bread Use your favorite crunchy option; whole grain or rye adds dimension.

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, fresh dill, and lemon juice. Stir until smooth and creamy, creating a delightful spread.
  2. Take your crackers or cocktail bread and spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on each piece.
  3. Gently layer a slice of the smoked salmon over the cream cheese.
  4. Add a sprinkle of capers and a thin slice of red onion atop each canapé.
  5. Arrange the hors d'oeuvres on a beautiful platter. Serve immediately, or cover and chill until it’s time to serve.

Notes

These canapés can be made a few hours in advance. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within a day to avoid sogginess.
