Preparation
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it nice and hot.
- Prep the Peaches: In a large bowl, toss the sliced peaches with 1/2 cup of sugar and let them sit to release their juices, about 10 minutes.
- Make the Batter: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the melted butter and milk, stirring until just combined.
- Assemble: Pour the peaches along with their juices into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Then, pour the batter evenly over the top of the peaches.
- Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Serve: Let it cool slightly before serving. It’s delightful on its own or topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the sugar depending on how sweet you prefer your cobbler. For a fun twist, you could add a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg to the filling. To store leftovers, cover tightly and place in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm in the oven set at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes.
