Ingredients
  

For the Apple Filling
  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor.
  • ½ cups brown sugar Divided into two portions for apple filling and topping.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Enhances the natural sweetness of the apples.
For the Crisp Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats Can substitute with gluten-free oats if needed.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Use gluten-free flour as a substitute if necessary.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted Coconut oil can be used for a healthier swap.
  • a pinch salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with half of the brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread them evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, remaining brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Pour the melted butter over the mixture and stir until it’s crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
Baking
  1. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  2. Let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
